THE COLLECTIVE
Based in Brussels, The Dancing Society is an art collective co-founded by Marie-Laure Lesage and myself in 2019. It is a home for art and creation, encounters and transmission, nurtured by handful of artists driven by dance and, more broadly, movement.
Combining physicality and reflexivity in the pursuit of artistic growth, transformation and community building, The Dancing Society proposes experiences that move, question and unify.
Through its performances, workshops and international dance festival, it invites audience and artists to take part in a constellation at once generous, uncompromising, intimate and festive.
Dance, joy and engagement are at the beating heart of The Dancing Society which, through its action and on its scale, aims to celebrate movement in its multiple forms and to invite each of us to become better than themselves.

THE FESTIVAL
Dance and friendship have shaped The Perpetuum Mobile, an emerging international dance festival created in August 2018 with the complicity and irresistible talent, work and relentlessness of Marie-Laure Lesage (dancer, Antwerp) and Fanny Wattier (architect & artist, Antwerp).
Through this festival, we aim at celebrating dance as well as other art forms presenting an intimate connection with movement. Movement of the bodies, sounds, textures, images and thoughts. This dynamic, inherent to every form of life, immediately presented itself as our leading light and the utopia of endless movement became the keystone, the horizon, the breath of the Perpetuum Mobile.
All my gratitude goes to Christine Rigaux, the previous head of the Bruegel, for her trust and support that have enabled the Perpetuum Mobile to come to life. I am beyond enthusiastic to keep developing this collaboration with Martin Smets, current head of the institution.
